including MDs, PAs, and NPs, can handle emergencies when psychiatric providers are not in the
facility.
Emergencies are defined as a high risk to the safety of self or others. Emergencies are to be
communicated using telephone calls and handled via telehealth, in-person visits, transfer to ER,
or Levindale Geriatric Hospital.
TRANSFER TO LEVINDALE AND HOSPITALS
Practice providers are very experienced in direct transfers to psychiatric hospitals, including
Levindale Geriatric Hospital, and work closely with psychiatrists and neurologists at local
Baltimore area hospitals, including MedStar Health hospitals, LifeBridge Health hospitals, Johns
Hopkins Hospital, and the University of Maryland Medical Centers at Baltimore.
